ANTWERP

When I was a child, we went down to the port of Antwerp as a family to look at the ships. The sea and ports, especially the northern ones, are therefore some of the fundamental images of my childhood. They have since been enriched by a whole literary domain inspired by this sometimes rather shabby atmosphere.

When I was a child I wanted to be a "port girl", or perhaps a fish merchant.

Although today there are few boats moored alongside the old quay near the shop, it seems only natural that these places form part of my life.

The store itself is very different to the one in Brussels : a large space like a ship's bridge with cabins that form intimate little units. Then there is the natural light that enters. (...)
