FROM SUBURBAN SAINT-ANTOINE TO PASSAGE DE LA MAIN D'OR

The choice of a site for our installation in Paris was long and difficult.
We finally decided on Faubourg Saint-Antoine because of its historic roots in the craft furniture trade, and also because of the dynamism and energy generated by the uncertainty of a district undergoing radical change. We imagined… but there you are- what we imagined is not what happened! And since I was feeling a little cramped between the restaurants and sports shoes, I felt the need for a neutral space between me and the others, a breathing space from the shopping street with an endless succession of shop windows, where you very soon stop seeing anything because you see too much. So I fled to a place that suited me better, not very far, just away from the bustle . (...)
