THE HERD OF GOATS:
A herd of goats in the landscape is a joyful composition of splashes of colour, a moving and vivid picture, different
at every moment, a small pleasure of encounter that chance and the need to graze constantly decompose and recompose.
But the little old girl, well hidden deep inside me, tells me almost immediately that they will be killed and eaten, and the echo
of this violence, never truly accepted, still reaches me, even though I don’t really want to know,
probably because the current events of men already give me too much to hear in this dark register.
So, a bit like a tribute, a mark of respect for these ultimately innocuous victims, I imagined
a herd of goats in the landscape of my store, and in the landscape of the city, since I have this power through my windows.
But absolutely nothing prevents us from seeing it simply as a capricious and mobile play of coloured spots,
composed from goatskin poufs, all different, lovable and soft like familiar animals…
and from very quickly forgetting what I have just said.
