BLUE POTTERY

BLUE POTTERY
India does not have a great tradition of ceramics.
And yet, I found a small producer in Jaipur whose enamels I noticed had a very special brilliance
on a very white earth. The craftsman revealed its origin to me, dating back to the immigration of his ancestors
from Turkey in the 17th century. Hence my idea of making a collection of “Faux Iznik”.

I had also noticed that certain decorations on his vases looked like exquisite miniatures,
including in particular those that I immediately freely described as “Persian hunting scenes”.
I then asked him to transpose these pretty decorations onto tiles, which became our “Blue Pottery” collection.

It was in 2007, and since then everything has changed, we stopped traveling the world looking for rare tiles
and we sell them while stocks last.
